Sprint Intervals on the Treadmill
After my workouts I do sprint intervals on the treadmill. Since I don't like running on the treadmill for long periods of time, I like to get as much of a workout I can in as little time as possible. So far I can get it done in ten minutes.
Most treadmills have a sprint interval exercise option. If the treadmills you have do not have this option you can just manually increase/decrease the speed while doing the Quick Start option.
Doing sprint intervals on the treadmill burns fat fast, increases your endurance and run speed. After all, if I ever need to run away(or to) someone or something, I'd like to get there in as little bit of time as possible. You dig!
Here's the Setup:
Incline 0.5 - I put the incline to .5 to increase the resistance a little bit. If I put any more my shins usually start to hurt. I'll only increase the incline level if I'm doing a 20 mintue walk uphill simulation.
Jog Speed 4.0 - 4.0 jog speed is a slow jog. Anything lower and you can pretty much walk. I would say it is okay to walk but if you can manage a slow jog is preferred. The idea is to keep your legs moving to so your legs stay warm. If you walk too slow your legs will cool down and you'll be prone to pulling a muscle when you start your run back up.
Run Speed 10.0 - I set the run speed to as fast as I can go without falling off the treadmill and making an ass of myself in front of everyone. I can go faster but I get nice and tired with this pace. After a few weeks of sprint intervals on the treadmill I will either increase my speed or the length of time I run at this speed. It's up to you. Once you figure out a speed and you do it for a couple of weeks change it up so you can continue to shock your body with tedious workouts.
The Exercise
1 Minute Jog followed by a 1 Minute Sprint. Repeat for a total of 10 minutes.
Short and to the point
This is a pretty hard workout. If you can't do exactly what I do, then just adust accordingly. For those of you who are in better running shape than I am, increase the speed and/or the length of time you are doing your sprints. Either way, sprint intervals on the treadmill will give you great results fast.

Putting the treadmill on high scares me...I'm always afraid I'm going to fall and slide off. I've seen some people with pretty nasty burns from a treadmill. Other than that this is basically the same workout I do. Although I walk for about 20 minutes afterwards.
